Steve Scalise has had a rough go of it since he was shot during a baseball game in June, but the congressman has been slowly making headway in his recuperation, and Paul Ryan offered more insight Monday night into Scalise's condition, CBS News reports.
The House speaker appeared at a CNN town hall and told moderator Jake Tapper that Scalise has had about 10 surgeries so far from the "pretty bad shot" he took and that his recovery is "going to be a while." "
We almost lost him that day," Ryan said, adding that Scalise would eventually regain his walking abilities, but that "he's just got to relearn how to do it."
