Bad Behavior isn't deterring Air Travel

The Bottom Line:

Most people still plan to fly on planes this summer despite recent increase in bad passenger and airline behavior

 The Full Story:

  • A recent poll finds that 67% of travelers are still planning to take  a trip by plane this summer, regardless of the uptick in passenger  confrontations
  • Less than 1% of people are actually canceling their plans because of passenger bad behavior, while 16% are still unsure
  • Only  7% of travelers say incidents of airline bad behavior will motivate  them to switch their preferred airline, although some people admit  negative stories about airlines will make them reconsider ever flying  that airline again

These  days it seems like we’re constantly hearing about passenger’s bad  behavior on planes, or even airlines’ bad behavior towards travelers.  And while all that news may turn people off of getting on a plane, a new  study suggests that’s not the case at all.

A poll  conducted by The Go Group finds that 67% of travelers are still planning  to take a trip by plane this summer, regardless of the uptick in  passenger confrontations. In fact, less than 1% of people are actually  canceling their plans, while 16% are still unsure.

And  airlines’ misbehavior isn’t deterring travelers either. Only 7% of  travelers say airline incidents will motivate them to switch their  preferred airline, while 34% say they absolutely won’t change. Although  there are some people that admit negative stories about airlines would  make them reconsider ever flying that airline again, with others saying  they will be avoiding such airlines from now on.
