It wasn't until I watched this short video that I realized how many iconic roles Robin Williams had played, and how these movies became such a part of my life.
I suspect that everyone in radio would confess to a secret desire to adopt (or steal) the famous "Good Morning Vietnam!" introduction.
In fact, many have tried (and failed).
The Dead Poets Society was a formative movie in my childhood - expressing the importance of self-determination, the beauty of the written word, the unfairness of life and sacrifice, and the power of anti-authoritarianism.
"Carpe Diem" became an inspirational rallying cry in classrooms, on ball fields, and in board rooms.
It impacted the entire culture.
Robin Williams impacted the culture.
It's why so many people are grieving his death today.
"What will your verse be?"
Rest in peace.
