Lawmaker To Seek Protection For Colleagues

One state lawmaker says protesters are crossing a line and current and former state lawmakers need government protection. After video surfaced of a group of protesters stalking Governor Pat McCrory down an alley in Washington, D-C over the weekend, Charlotte state Senator Dan Bishop says he'll propose a bill that would entitle lawmakers like McCrory to personal security, if necessary. The Raleigh News and Observer reports Bishop wants to make threatening, intimidating, or retaliating against a present of former elected official a crime punishable by a five-year prison sentence. The District of Columbia has a similar ordinance on the books.
