NC Unemployment Jumps As Labor Market Grows

North Carolina's unemployment rate increased in December, despite more people becoming employed. The state Department of Commerce reports the state added 6,800 jobs in December, but the jobless rate crept up to 5.1 percent. The figures show the labor market increased by about 5,800 workers in the last month of 2016. In the last year, the state's labor market added more than 142,000 workers.
