Judges Block NC Senate Confirmation Hearings

Just as confirmation hearings were set to begin in Raleigh, a three-judge panel steps in to block the new law requiring the state Senate approve the Governor's Cabinet members. The law was passed in special session in December, just two weeks prior to Roy Cooper taking the oath of office. Another court hearing is scheduled for Friday. Governor Roy Cooper contends the law is unconstitutional, while Republicans say the constitution allows the Senate "advise and consent" powers.
