Gov. Cooper Talks Teacher Pay In Charlotte

Governor Cooper wants to continue fighting for higher teacher pay in North Carolina.

He spoke about his proposed budget yesterday at Collinswood Language Academy in Charlotte.  Cooper says he plans to raise pay five-percent for public school teachers and get statewide pay to the national average within five years.  North Carolina ranks 41st in average teacher pay in the U.S.

The budget would also give teachers extra spending money to cover out -of-pocket costs.
