Drone Ban Proposed Around Prisons

A bill proposed in Raleigh takes aim at punishing people who may use drones to try to deliver contraband to inmates in North Carolina prisons. The bill would make it illegal to fly drones near a prison. Flying a drone within 250 feet above or 500 feet around a prison would be a misdemeanor. Anyone caught trying to drop items to prisoners would face felony charges. Twice in 2015 drones carrying contraband were confiscated by prison guards.
