It could be weeks before the rock slide that has closed a 13-mile stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway is cleared. A rock slide near milepost 365 Saturday forced the parkway to close from Craggy Gardens Visitors Center to Mount Mitchell State Park. A press release from the National Park Service says it will take a while to clear the debris in a safe manner. That Parkway stretch is off limits to not only vehicles, but cyclists and hikers.
