Slope stabilization efforts may be necessary along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Another rock slide has closed a portion of the road near Boone. Mud and rock block one lane of the parkway in Deep Gap, between Highway 421 to Old Highway 421. With heavy rain in Wednesday's forecast, concerns are growing that the slide may get worse. There is no timetable for the road to reopen yet. The parkway is closed between mileposts 286 and 242 for falling rock and debris.
