Drought conditions still exist in Western North Carolina, despite the recent rain. The North Carolina Drought Management Advisory Council's latest drought map shows most of the mountains in at least Moderate Drought. Seven western counties - including Haywood - are experiencing Severe Drought. Buncombe and Henderson counties has seen 1 to 2 inches of rain in the last two days, with more on the way today, the situation should improve.
