Henderson County wants more control of smoking regulations.
The county Board of Health passed a resolution last week asking the state for the ability to add regulations in addition to state law governing tobacco products. The county's goal is to take steps to keep tobacco and nicotine out of the hands of kids.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services says 30-percent of high school students use tobacco products.
