The Buncombe County Planning Department is looking for a company to finance and develop a solar energy system.
The county has designated around 30 acres of developable land at the site of a closed landfill.
They say they won't own the energy system and whatever company proposes to build the facility will carry the burden of all the costs except for the land purchase.
The Planning Department expects companies to independently investigate the area and submit a plan by August.
