State and Buncombe County health officials are warning people to stay out of the French Broad River after a fuel leak.
They issued an advisory yesterday, saying the river is off-limits from Jean Webb Park to areas as far as the Town of Marshall.
An oil sheen, a bad smell and discoloration is present in the water after fuel was released from a facility on Lyman Street Sunday.
The advisory is pending the results of a water quality investigation.
