Buncombe Commissioners Vote To Raise Ambulance Rate

Buncombe County commissioners are voting to raise ambulance rates by about 100 dollars a trip.

They made the decision yesterday, based on a lack of Medicare reimbursement, higher salaries and the opioid crises.

Emergency Services Director Jerry Vehaun says it's the first rate increase since 2011.

He stressed people should still call 9-1-1 when needed.
