Health officials believe the rise in flu cases in Western North Carolina is leading to lower blood donations.
The Blood Connection in Hendersonville says supplies are running low because regular donors are sick and can't donate.
The center is encouraging healthy people to give blood. Extended hours and additional drives are now scheduled.
