Hiker Okay After Fall From Looking Glass Rock
(Transylvania County, NC) -- A hiker who tumbled more than 100 feet down Looking Glass Rock in the Pisgah National Forest is expected to be okay. Emergency crews from Transylvania County were called out around 4:30 on Saturday afternoon after the man fell and his climbing partner was stuck at the top. She was eventually able to climb down safely. The man who fell suffered an ankle injury and was airlifted to the hospital for treatment.

Two-Million-Dollar Lottery Ticket Sold In WNC
(Raleigh, NC) -- Someone in Western North Carolina may have a huge winning lottery ticket in their pocket. State lottery officials say a ticket that won two-million-dollars in Saturday's Powerball drawing was sold at the Publix on Greenville Highway in Hendersonville. The winner matched all five white balls in the drawing and doubled the winnings by adding the power play feature. The odds were one in almost 12-million.
FEMA Aiding McDowell County With Emergency Relief
(McDowell County, NC) -- A mountain county is getting some federal relief for storm damage. FEMA is providing McDowell County with over 200-thousand-dollars to help recover from the effects of Tropical Storm Michael, which brought flash floods and power outages last October. The county's emergency management director said 2018 was a record year for disaster declarations in McDowell. He added that Tropical Storm Alberto caused more damage than Michael.

Lake Junaluska Plunge Successful
(Lake Junaluska, NC) -- Organizers from the Lake Junaluska Plunge say this year's event was a success. Participants braved a jump into icy water in the seventh annual event on Saturday. Over 30-thousand-dollars raised this year will go to benefit Kids in the Creek and other educational events. Kids in the Creek is a program for 8th graders who learn about the importance of clean water.
Charlotte Fire Investigating Possible Arson
(Charlotte, NC) -- Charlotte fire investigators say a blaze that heavily damaged a home on Saturday was set on purpose. It took nearly four dozen firefighters a little under an hour to control the fire on Newberry Park Lane. The department believes someone threw an item at the home that sparked the blaze. The flames did around 300-thousand-dollars-worth of damage.
Illegal Strip Club Raided In Iredell County
(Iredell County, NC) -- An illegal strip club is being investigated in Iredell County. Deputies raided a home on Bethesda Road on Friday after complaints from neighbors. Drugs, alcohol and weapons were reportedly found in the home. Investigators say the homeowner was operating an adult entertainment establishment called Buster's Strip Club inside.

(Charlotte, NC) -- The CMPD says a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on Saturday morning. The accident happened on the Plaza at Sweet Briar Street. The pedestrian was allegedly lying in the road when he was hit. The driver stayed on the scene, and hasn't been charged with anything.

(Iredell County, NC) -- The state highway patrol is investigating a deadly motorcycle wreck near Statesville. Troopers says the motorcycle ran into a boat trailer that was being pulled behind a truck on Old Mountain Road. The driver of the truck was pulling into his driveway.
Fire Damages Garage With Classic Cars
(Rowan County, NC) -- Investigators say a fire damaged a garage full of classic cars in Rowan County Sunday afternoon. A camper parked next to the garage on Yost Road reportedly caught fire and spread into the building. Firefighters were able to remove more than a dozen cars before they were damaged. A roof collapsed on three of the cars. No one was injured in the blaze.
College Track Stars Escape A Bus Explosion On I-95
(Wilson Co., NC) -- Some student athletes from Virginia are counting their lucky stars after escaping a bus before it blew up in Wilson County. On Saturday roughly 40 students from Hampton University were on a bus heading home from a track meet in South Carolina when the driver pulled over on I-95 because of engine troubles. The students got off after a couple minutes, and about ten minutes later the bus blew up. No one was injured and another bus got them back home early yesterday morning.
Men Are Arrested For An Alleged Escort Extortion Scheme
(Wake Co., NC) -- Three men in Wake County are accused of trying to extort people who answered an online sex ad. Police say Charles Wade the third and Ramell Thompson of Raleigh worked with Demaeques Thompkins of Chicago to extort and blackmail people using an escort website. Three victims say when they went to meet up with a person they met online they learned they were being recorded, then threatened with public humiliation if they didn't pay up. The three suspects are all charged with conspiracy and extortion.

WRAL reports that people in at least one neighborhood say they've heard loud noises. One neighbor said the vibrations shattered a mirror. Police ID The Victim In A Deadly Raleigh Pedestrian Accident
(Raleigh, NC) -- Raleigh police are identifying a pedestrian killed on South Saunders Street. They say Jose Hernandez was hit by a vehicle crossing the street on Friday. He was hit near Pecan Street outside of a crosswalk. Police say the driver didn't see Hernandez, but didn't say if any charges were pending for the crash.
Deputies Arrest A Woman Claiming She Concocted A Story About A Missing Mom And Baby
(Scotland Co., NC) -- A woman in Scotland County is accused of making up a story about a missing infant and her mother. Deputies say on Friday they charged 30-year-old Danilla Bethea of Rockingham with ten-counts of obtaining property under false pretenses and falsely reporting a missing child. They say the case of a kidnapped April Morrison was concocted, that there was no April Morrison and the picture was ripped off of social media. Deputies say Bethea made up the case for money. She is behind bars on 100-thousand-dollars bond.
Cooper Says Virginia Governor Should Resign
(Raleigh, NC) -- Governor Roy Cooper is calling on Virginia Governor Ralph Northam to resign. Northam is currently under fire for a racist yearbook photo from 1984 depicting blackface and Ku Klux Klan attire. Cooper said "resignation is the only way forward."
Revolutionary War, Civil War Memorial Vandalized In Wilkesboro.
(Wilkesboro, NC) -- An investigation is underway in Wilkesboro where a Revolutionary War statue and a Civil War memorial to Confederate soldiers was vandalized. The word "genocide" was spray-pained on the statue of Colonial Ben Cleveland on Friday night. The memorial to Wilkes County Confederate soldiers was tagged with the word "attack" in capital letters. The vandalism happened just hours after dueling protests outside of a Confederate statue in downtown Winston-Salem.
Police Warn Of ATM Skimming Devices
(Greensboro, NC) -- Greensboro police are warning folks after ATM skimming devices were found in the area. One was discovered along Randleman Road, but police did not say which ATM was affected. Police say people should inspect the ATM they're using before inserting their cards. Anything suspicious should be reported to law enforcement and the bank.

(High Point, NC) -- One person is hurt after a shooting in High Point. Police responded to the scene Saturday afternoon near English Road and Barker Avenue.
