BREAKING: A Second Case of COVID-19 in Western North Carolina

A second case of of the COVID-19 Coronavirus has been reported in Western North Carolina. This time in Cherokee County.

A person who attended a Contra Dance at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown on March 10, 2020 tested positive for the virus.

The Cherokee County Health Department said there is not any ongoing risk of exposure at the school.

If you were at the dance and have symptoms, officials say to call your local health department.

Officials say if you do not have symptoms but you were in attendance, they recommend you continue practicing "social distancing" and monitor yourself and the people in you household for 14 days.

They also say avoid any sort of social gathering.

Contra Dances have now been canceled from March 13, 2020 – April 18, 2020.
