John McCain dies... jackassery commences
My wife and I were saddened to hear Senator John McCain lost his battle with glioblastoma Friday. My father-in-law died from the same cancer, and McCain was such a well-known politician, that Christy was more acutely aware of his illness.
Over the years, I have been very critical of Sen. McCain for his stances on various issues. I've long thought he got more of a fire in his belly fighting conservatives than progressives. I've also thought he got suckered by many media folks - who gave him lots of favorable coverage until he was a threat to a Democrat.
But the reaction on social media to the news of his death further proves that ours is a nation of jackasses.
Honestly, it was hard to tell the difference between the leftists and the Trumpists this weekend. While the language they used to attack the dead man was different, their hatred was identical.
President Trump reportedly rejected a statement drawn up by his staff - opting for a tweet instead.
President Trump nixed issuing a statement that praised the heroism and life of Sen. John McCain, telling senior aides he preferred to issue a tweet before posting one Saturday night that did not include any kind words for the late Arizona Republican.

He explained why, in a 2017 interview with Megyn Kelly:
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Tuesday that his penchant for insulting others stems from a desire to heal his own wounds.
"When I'm wounded, I go after people hard and I try to unwound myself," Trump said in a much-anticipated interview with Fox News' Megyn Kelly that aired Tuesday night on Fox.
This explains everything you need to know about Trump, the man. He believes hurting others will make himself not hurt. Even if that other person is dead, apparently.
McCain's death is another reminder that for Donald Trump - there is no high road.
Loser commits mass shooting after losing at video game
A loser from Baltimore drove to Florida to compete in a tournament for the video football game Madden. When he lost, he pulled out a gun and began firing - apparently first targeting the guy who beat him in the game. Then the coward killed himself.
News4Jax reports 2 people were murdered and 12 more injured.
Of course, this prompted immediate screams from progressives that we need to restrict gun ownership. That this attacker is proof of a much larger population that poses a risk to vulnerable and innocent Americans.
These are, by the way, the same people who said the murder of Mollie Tibbetts by an unauthorized immigrant does NOT provide proof of a much larger population that poses a risk to vulnerable and innocent Americans.
But, wait! There's more!
