Hillary: No civility unless Democrats are in power
For as long as I've paid attention to politics and governance, Democrats have accused Republicans of hating the old, the young, the poor, women, minorities, and foreigners. Democrat leaders told Americans that Republicans want to enslave them or kill them.
Hillary Clinton says they've been too polite. I'm sure the GOP members of Congress who were targeted for assassination last year might disagree with her assessment.
She told CNN that Democrats can't be civil to Republicans anymore (as if they have been).
This is instructive... if not a tad insane.
"You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for - what you care about," she said. "That's why I believe if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and/or the Senate - that's when civility can start again."
She obviously hasn't considered that Republicans and conservatives view the Democrats and the ever-crazier-leftwing elements taking over that party as intent on destroying what the right stands for and cares about. Hillary Clinton doesn't explore what happens if we all adopt her standard.
Refusing to remain civil with political opponents is the path to violence.
Of course, she is only interested in justifying Democrats' incivility. After all, if the Republicans would just do what Democrats want, there would be no need to abandon civility.
Because what Clinton is really saying here is that there can be no civility unless Democrats are in power.
If we all adopt this standard, our nation is in serious trouble.
