Roger Stone arrested in pre-dawn raid

Trump campaign political consultant (and self-described "dirty trickster") Roger Stone was arrested early this morning on charges of obstruction, lying to investigators, and witness tampering.

It's related to the release of Hillary Clinton's emails by WikiLeaks during the 2016 presidential campaign.

WikiLeaks is believed to be a Russian "cut out" operation, and was called as much by President Trump's CIA Director pick (now Secretary of State) Mike Pompeo.

You can read the indictment here, which accuses Stone of having advanced knowledge of WikiLeaks' plans, lying to Congress about conversations he'd had about WikiLeaks with an intermediary, and telling another witness to corroborate his testimony. He's also accused of threatening a radio host not to talk to the FBI.

It also appears that someone gave CNN a heads up for the early morning SWAT raid on Stone's home, so they could get the "perp walk" video.

  • People and organizations who spread a video of Nicholas Sandmann and Nathan Phillips on social media should probably be worried, as the teenager's family has now hired defamation lawyer.

  • Meanwhile, it appears the effort to remove any Trump-supporting attire from the public square continues, with the latest story coming from a gym in Missouri.

  • From POLITICO: "The TSA will pay its screener force, which has been working without pay during the shutdown, for two weeks of back pay, after scraping up enough money left over from last year’s funds."

  • FOX News picked up a weird North Carolina story: "In a bizarre and instinctual survival tactic, alligators that normally lurk in a swamp in eastern North Carolina are now "frozen" beneath the murky water. Every inch of the reptiles’ bodies stay underwater — except for their snout."
