UPDATED: Cooper Extends Stay at Home Order

North Carolina's Stay at Home order has been extended to May 8th, 2020.

Governor Roy Cooper issued Executive Order No. 135 extending North Carolina’s Stay At Home order through May 8.

As of 3:00pm Thursday afternoon, there are 7,608 cases of COVID-19 across 93 counties.

486 people are in hospitals across the state.

And the death toll rose once again to 253 people.

As far as re-opening the state, Cooper said the measures that have been taken have helped to flatten the curve but that the state is not at the point where restrictions can be eased, though he didn't site any specific metric to support the decision.

Cooper said the state would begin to re-open in phases, much like what was presented in the White House Coronavirus Task Force Plan.

The governor plans to announce long term plans for North Carolina's schools on Friday.
