District Attorney Seeking Death Penalty In Strangulation Case (Polk County, NC)
A district attorney is seeking the death penalty against a Polk County man charged with the strangulation death of a South Carolina woman. The woman's body was found in a well earlier this year off Old Highway 19 in Columbus, three months after she was reported missing. Deputies said Jeremy Bradshaw told them he hid her body in the well. He was indicted this fall for first-degree murder.
Son Of Former County Manager To Pay Back 40-Thousand-Dollars (Asheville, NC)
The son of former Buncombe County Manager Wanda Greene is agreeing to pay the county 40-thousand dollars. It's part of a settlement Michael Greene reached after being accused of illegally obtaining and spending county funds. He is a previous business intelligence manager with Buncombe County. Wanda Greene is still facing two lawsuits with the county.
Scooter Ban Considered In Asheville (Asheville, NC)
Asheville city leaders are considering a ban on electric scooters in downtown. The e-scooter company Bird dropped off about 200 last month without notifying the city first. Transportation staff is drafting a study on the possible use of the scooters that is expected to be ready next year. The Bird scooters were confiscated by the city when they were left in Asheville in late October.
Woman Heading To Prison For Poisoning Death (Polk County, NC)
A Polk County woman is heading to prison for poisoning a man to death more than three years ago. Prosecutors said Brittany Crockett served Jeffrey Brittain a mixture of V8 and a weed killer pesticide during breakfast shortly after a morning argument in July 2015. Brittain died around a month later. A judge sentenced Crockett to 15 years in prison after she entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder in Polk County court last Thursday.
Chicken Waste Spills On I-40 (Haywood County, NC)
Some troubles are being reported along I-40 in North Carolina. The driver of a truck carrying chicken waste slammed on its brakes in Burke County on Tuesday, causing the waste to splash out and coat a number of emergency vehicles at an accident scene. Several drivers told WLOS-TV that a dozen cars were damaged close to the Tennessee line last night because of a large hole in the roadway. The DOT responded to repair the hole.

Deadly Shooting Investigated In University City (Charlotte, NC)
The CMPD is investigating a deadly shooting in University City. A man was found with a gunshot wound outside the Barrington Place apartments on Avebury Drive last night. Investigators were busy interviewing witnesses at the scene afterward.
Three Middle School Administrators Placed On Leave (Charlotte, NC)
CMS is placing three middle school administrators on leave. A source told WBTV that it was because a threat wasn't reported. The principal, assistant principal and dean of students at Carmel Middle School in south Charlotte were suspended. The district says teaching and learning at the school is continuing without interruption. Interims will fill the positions of principal and assistant principal.
