Suspect On Run After Shooting Outside Asheville Apartments

(Asheville, NC) -- The suspect in an Asheville shooting last night is on the run. Asheville Police say one person was shot in the head while sitting in a car at an apartment complex on Klondyke Place. The victim was reportedly able to run a few blocks away from the scene before being taken to Mission Hospital. The injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

Two Women Plead Guilty In Morganton Double-Homicide

(Burke County, NC) -- Two women are guilty for their parts in the murder of two cousins in Morganton nearly three years ago. Investigators said the victims were forced inside the trunk of a car during a robbery before it was set on fire. One woman entered guilty pleas to second-degree murder and armed robbery, while the other admitted guilt to being an accessory on Friday. Two men are still scheduled to appear in court on charges of murder.

Lawmakers Propose Allowing Dogs In Taprooms

(Raleigh, NC) -- North Carolina lawmakers are making a push to allow dogs inside brewery taprooms. The Greensboro News & Record says Western North Carolina state representative Chuck McGrady is co-sponsoring the bill. State law currently allows dogs inside wineries if the business so chooses. Legislators have worked with state health officials on developing the proposal.

Police Look For Suspect Who Held Up Verizon Wireless

(Asheville, NC) -- Asheville Police are looking for a suspect who stole thousands of dollars-worth of cell phones and equipment from a store last week. Investigators say the suspect robbed the Verizon Wireless on Hendersonville Road at gunpoint. WLOS-TV says the stolen items were valued at over 33-thousand-dollars.

Body Of Missing Man Found In Boone

(Boone, NC) -- Watauga County deputies are investigating the death of a 70-year-old man. John Taylor Adams was reported missing from his home in Boone on Friday. He was found dead in the area of Bradford Trailer Park on Bluebird Lane the next morning. Details on the possible cause of death haven't been released.

Southern Conference Finals Tonight In Asheville

(Asheville, NC) -- The Southern Conference basketball tournament wraps up today in Asheville. Top seeds Wofford and UNC-Greensboro tip off in the U.S. Cellular Center at 7 p.m. to decide the men's championship. The winner gets an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Mercer wrapped up its NCAA invitation yesterday with a win over Furman in the women's final.

Suspect Arrested In NE Charlotte Murder

(Charlotte, NC) -- The CMPD is investigating a murder in northeast Charlotte. A man was found dead at the Somerset Apartments on Tara Lane early yesterday morning. One woman was taken to the Mecklenburg County Detention Center on a charge of murder. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from domestic violence.

Candidates Qualify For Ninth District Race This Week

(Charlotte, NC) -- The qualification period for the new ninth district congressional race begins today. Four Republicans have already announced their candidacies to run against the Democratic nominee. Charlotte businessman Dan McCready is the only Democrat to announce he's running. Candidates have until Friday to file. The primary election will be May 14th.

Two Planes Collide At Airport

(Charlotte, NC) -- American Airlines is reporting that two planes collided at Charlotte Douglas International Airport Sunday morning. One of the planes was pulling back from the gate when it happened. No passengers were reported injured.

Man Fatally Shot Outside Convenience Store

(Charlotte, NC) -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg investigators are looking for a suspect who gunned down a man in a convenience store parking lot Friday night. He was found dead outside the Eze-N-Quick minimart on Tuckaseegee Road. Officers are now taking a look at camera footage from the store to make an ID on possible suspects.

Suspect Holds Up Union County Grocery Store

(Union County, NC) -- Union County deputies are looking for a man who held up an Indian Trail grocery store. Investigators say the man walked in through the delivery door of the Aldi on Saturday morning armed with a gun. He allegedly forced employees to empty out the safe and got away with around four-thousand-dollars. One officer told WSOC-TV that the robbery appears similar to three others that have happened at Aldi stores in North Carolina.

Gardner-Webb Makes First Trip To NCAAs

(Boiling Springs, NC) -- Gardner-Webb's men's basketball team is going to the big dance for the first time. The Boiling Springs university capped off a Big South tournament championship on Sunday with a win over Radford. The victory gives the Runnin' Bulldogs their first-ever trip to the NCAA tournament. It will be Gardner-Webb's first postseason appearance since making it to the College Basketball Invitational in 2015.

Police Investigate A Third Siler City Razor Blade Incident

(Siler City, NC) -- Siler City police are investigating another terrifying razor blade incident. They say on Friday, a man found a razor blade in the rubber grip of a gas pump. This comes just a week after a woman was cut because someone taped a razor to the handle of her car door, and two weeks after razor blades were attached to the handles of several Walmart shopping carts. Siler City police say they don't think the incidents are connected and they may be dealing with copycats. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Two Motorcyclists Die This Weekend In Fayetteville Crashes

(Fayetteville, NC) -- Another motorcyclist is dead in Fayetteville. Last night, a motorcycle crashed into a car at the intersection of Bingham and Lakeridge Drive. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead and the car's driver suffered minor injuries. Earlier yesterday morning, another crash took place between a motorcycle and a car. That crash happened on Yadkin Road and that motorcyclist died at the hospital.

A Man Is Arrested For Stabbing A Hospital Employee In Smithfield

(Smithfield, NC) -- An employee at the Johnston Medical Center is recovering from a stabbing. Officials say on Saturday night, 25-year-old Connor Sullivan attacked a worker at the Smithfield hospital with a knife. Sullivan had been waiting for treatment at the emergency room. He took off after the stabbing, but police were able to catch him. Sullivan is charged with assault with a deadly weapon. The victim is in stable condition.

Two People Shot In Zebulon

(Zebulon, NC) -- Police are investigating a double shooting in Zebulon. They say they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds on Dealous Drive yesterday afternoon. Both people were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. Police say a person has been questioned in connection with the shooting, but so far there's no word on any arrests.

An Alleged Home Invader Is Arrested For A Home Invasion That Went Wrong For The Bad Guys

(Goldsboro, NC) -- An arrest has been made in a Goldsboro home invasion where the homeowner killed one of the invaders. Police say last month, three men broke into a house on West New Hope Road while a man and his seven-year-old son were home. One of the men shot the homeowner, but he returned fire, killing convicted killer Jermaine Allen. Police identified one of the surviving burglars as 27-year-old Vance Roddick, and arrested him this weekend. He's due in court today.

Body Cam Footage Released Of A Nash County Officer Involved Shooting

(Nash Co., NC) -- Body camera footage has been released of a deadly officer involved shooting in Nash County. Deputies responding to a report of sexual assault last month shot and killed 28-year-old Jonathan Ramirez in front of his home. Deputies say he pulled a gun on them, but the video doesn't confirm this and his family says it isn't true. Three deputies are on administrative leave as the SBI investigates the incident.

Police Officers Fire Shots At Domestic Assault Suspect

(Greensboro, NC) -- No one is hurt after Greensboro police officers fired shots at a domestic assault suspect, causing him to crash his car. The scene unfolded yesterday afternoon on Darden Road. Police say the suspect set the exterior door of an apartment on fire. When officers tried to stop the man's vehicle, he allegedly accelerated toward them. Two officers opened fire, and the suspect crashed. He was taken into custody.

Man Killed, Two Women Hurt In High Point Shooting

(High Point, NC) -- One man is dead and two women are hurt after a shooting in High Point. It happened early yesterday morning at a home near South Centennial Street and Lake Avenue. Police say 26-year-old Shawn Mitchell was shot and killed and two women were hurt, one seriously. They believe the shooting happened after a fight at a gas station in Greensboro. An investigation is ongoing.

Breweries Could Allow Dogs Inside Under New Bill

(Undated) -- A new bill would allow breweries in the state to decide whether pets are allowed in their establishments. Right now, taprooms are considered restaurants, but the proposed law would change that. It was crafted with the help of state and Guilford County health officials, as well as the state ABC Committee and the Craft Brewers Guild.

Dozens Gather In Honor Of Woman Shot And Killed After Car Wreck

(Greensboro, NC) -- Dozens of people are coming together to remember the woman shot and killed after a car accident in Greensboro. A memorial was held yesterday at the KFC on Bessemer Avenue to honor Carolyn Tiger's life. Police say she was involved in a minor crash and then shot and killed by the other driver. They say there were two young kids in the woman's vehicle at the time. The suspect is still at large.
