Authorities are asking for the public's help to track down a habitual felon, on the run after a bank robbery Monday afternoon in Asheville. Police are looking for 40 year-old Brian Keith Leonhart. He's charged with Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon in connection with a hold up at the FIrst Citizens Bank on Tunnel Road. Tuesday morning the original getaway car was found abandoned in Jackson County. He's now believed to be driving a 2005 red Ford Focus, which was stolen nearby. It has a North Carolina tag: BFZ-1883. Leonhart is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with a tip should call Crimestoppers at 255-5050.
According to the Department of Public Safety Leonhart has a lengthy criminal history, dating back to 1996. He was just released from a nearly six year stint in prison for armed robbery on July 25th.
