Three Sentenced To Life For Brevard Murder
(Transylvania County, NC) -- Three men are heading to prison for life for a murder in Brevard. Eighteen-year-old Saul Ayala was robbed and stabbed to death in July 2017. A jury found all three men guilty on Wednesday nearly a month after the trial started. Their life sentences include no possibility for parole.
Freezing Rain Chance Overnight

The National Weather Service says light ice accumulations are possible in the central and northern mountains of western North Carolina beginning late tonight and into Friday morning. Two Suspects Wanted In Hendersonville Shooting
(Hendersonville, NC) -- Hendersonville police are looking for two suspects from a Wednesday afternoon shooting. One man was injured in the area of Holmes and Clark streets. He was taken to Mission Hospital in Asheville in serious condition. Two men reportedly fled the scene in a silver Ford Expedition.
New Mexico Man Sentenced For Abducting Rutherford County Teen
(Rutherford County, NC) -- The abduction of a Rutherford County teen is landing a New Mexico man in prison. Prosecutors say the 24-year-old posed as a 16-year-old online before traveling 15-hundred miles to North Carolina last year. He and the 13-year-old girl were found in Oklahoma. The man was sentenced to 15 years in prison with ten years of supervised release yesterday.
Two WNC Groups To Perform At Sugar Bowl
(Franklin, NC) -- Two groups from western North Carolina are heading to perform at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on January 1st. WLOS-TV is reporting the Franklin High Marching Band is taking part in the Sugar Bowl Parade and later at the halftime show. A group from Pat's School of Dance in Hendersonville also performs at the halftime show. The Sugar Bowl features Georgia and Baylor.
Charlotte Commits 110-Million-Dollars For Soccer Team
(Charlotte, NC) -- The city of Charlotte is committing 110-million-dollars to help bring a Major League Soccer team to the Queen City. NBC Charlotte is reporting the money will be used for changes and renovations at Bank of America Stadium to make the facility more soccer-friendly. MLS officials have leaned heavily towards awarding Charlotte with the league's 30th team. An announcement is expected this month.
Two Wanted In Murder Of Sandwich Shop Owner
(Charlotte, NC) -- The CMPD is looking for two suspects in the murder of a sandwich shop owner. Scott Brooks was shot to death in front of his own restaurant, Brook's Sandwich House, in NoDa on Monday morning. Investigators don't have a description, but say two people were involved. They believe the suspects tried robbing Brooks before the shooting.
Truist Buys Uptown Tower For Record Price
(Charlotte, NC) -- The new bank Truist is buying an uptown tower at a record price for an office building. The Charlotte Observer says the company is paying a North Carolina record-high for the Hearst Tower at just over 455-million-dollars. Around two-thousand employees are expected to be based out of the North Tryon Street location. The merger between BB&T and SunTrust to form Truist was just finalized last week.
Family Says Man Tried Abducting Eleven-Year-Old
(Charlotte, NC) -- The attempted abduction of an eleven-year-old girl is being investigated in north Charlotte. The girl's family says she was able to get away after a man grabbed her by the wrist around Sunwalk Court off Statesville Avenue Monday. She had just gotten off the school bus before the attempted abduction. The suspect was described as a white man around 50-years-old with a beard, about six-feet tall.
Suspect Connected To Two Seven-Eleven Armed Robberies
(Charlotte, NC) -- One suspect is now accused of two armed robberies at Charlotte Seven-Elevens. The most recent happened on Sunday at the store on Mount Holly-Huntersville Road. The first was six months ago at the Seven-Eleven on Brookshire Boulevard. He allegedly used a knife and gun in the robberies.

Girl Is The Only Survivor In Deadly Wreck
(Randolph Co., NC) -- A four-year-old girl is the sole survivor of a deadly wreck in Randolph County. The head-on collision happened Friday morning on Old Red Cross Road. State troopers say a Nissan SUV crossed the center line and struck a Kia passenger car head-on. Both drivers were killed. The child, Carrie Wilson, was a passenger in the car that was hit. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Woman Believed To Have Stabbed Man In Greensboro
(Greensboro, NC) -- A woman is accused of stabbing a man in Greensboro. The scene unfolded early yesterday morning near Gate City Boulevard and Dillard Street. A 40-year-old man was found suffering a stab wound but is expected to be okay. A woman was taken into custody. There's no word yet on what led to the stabbing.
