A local sex predator watchdog group released an undercover video yesterday that now has a UNCA Professor on administrative leave...and police investigating!
The group, Dad's Against Predators, was contacted through the dating app Grinder by UNCA Professor of Inorganic and Computational Chemistry George Heard...the Professor thought he was showing up to the Asheville Mall to meet a 14 year old boy for sex....who he ended up meeting was a videographer from the group Dad's Against Predators.
UNCA has put George Heard on administartive leave while an investigation is conducted by the University...Asheville Police are also investigating....Professor Heard was also involved locally with Middle and High School students through the NC State Math and Science Olympiad.
Last night, News Radio 570 reached out to Asheville City Schools to see if they were aware of the video and as to whether they had contacted families who's children may have had contact with the disgraced professor. Given how late it was when I sent the email, I don't have an answer from ACS at this point.
