One Dead In Asheville Shooting
(Asheville, NC) -- Asheville police are investigating a homicide. Officers found a 27-year-old shot to death in the middle of Fairfax Avenue in the western part of the city late Tuesday night. It marks Asheville's fourth homicide of 2022. A person of interest is being questioned in the shooting.
Former WNC Congressman Removed For Voter Rolls
(Macon County, NC) -- A former western North Carolina Congressman is no longer registered to vote in the state. The board of elections in Macon County revealed this week that Republican Mark Meadows has been removed from the voter rolls. He's accused of registering to vote in a home he never lived in, while also submitting a ballot in Virginia two-years ago. The former Trump Chief of Staff pushed theories of voter fraud after the 2020 election.

Drug Suspects Arrested In Haywood Traffic Stop
(Haywood County, NC) -- Two suspects are facing drug trafficking charges in Haywood County. Deputies uncovered half-a-pound of methamphetamine and some fentanyl inside a truck earlier this month. It happened during a traffic stop on I-40 West. The sheriff's office chief deputy said targeting drug traffickers remains one of their top priorities.
Non-Profit For Autism Receives Big Donation

CATS Driver Assaulted
(Charlotte, NC) -- The CMPD is investigating the assault of a Charlotte Area Transit System bus driver. Officers say the 60-year-old woman was attacked with a garbage can after a passenger refused to pay fare in northwest Charlotte Tuesday afternoon. She was treated for minor injuries. A CATS bus driver was shot to death two-months ago.
Charlotte Man Accused Of Making Bombs
(Charlotte, NC) -- A man is being investigated for allegedly making bombs in his Charlotte apartment. Court documents show the man's roommate asked him to buy chemicals online that might get him in trouble last summer. He eventually told the CMPD earlier this year that his roommate might be creating chemical bombs. A search warrant was served this week, but no charges have been filed yet.
SC Governor Speaks On Panthers' Practice Center
(York County, SC) -- South Carolina's governor is looking forward to restarting the Panthers' new practice center in Rock Hill. Henry McMaster told FOX Carolina this week that Carolina and local leaders are working out details to resume construction. Work was paused last month after Panthers' owner David Tepper says financial arrangements fell through. The initial goal to finish the project is 2023.
Pedestrian Killed After Running Into Charlotte Road
(Charlotte, NC) -- A pedestrian is dead a week after being struck by an SUV in north Charlotte. Officers say the man allegedly ran out into the middle of Old Statesville Road, where he was struck on April 6th. The driver hasn't been charged in the accident. Toxicology results are pending for the pedestrian.
Professor Accused Of Abusing Infant
(Gaston County, NC) -- A UNC-Charlotte professor is accused of abusing his adopted child. The 42-year-old was arrested earlier this week after the six-week-old went into cardiac arrest at a home in Gastonia. He was placed on administrative leave in wake of the arrest. Investigators say the infant suffered a broken rib, skull fracture and more.

The Hendrick Center for Automotive Excellence is a 16-thousand-500 square feet state of the art facility for students who want to pursue careers in the automotive industry. It features an automotive systems lab, a performance lab for engines and transmissions, a computer lab and a new degree program for collision repair. Students will be trained for jobs with Ford, GM, Toyota/Lexus, Mercedes-Benz Audi and Subaru.
UNC Big Man Armando Bacot To Return For His Senior Season
