(Henderson County, NC) -- A Hendersonville woman is heading to prison for killing her daughter. Penny Hartle had been accused of stabbing the five-year-old girl at a home on Fiesta Lane in April 2021. She pleaded guilty to second-degree murder yesterday. Her sentence will be between 13-to-17-years.

Holiday Parade Coming To Downtown Asheville

(Asheville, NC) -- The Asheville Holiday Parade is rolling through downtown this Saturday morning. Performers ranging from marching bands to dancers, along with local James Beard award winners, will take part in the 76th annual event. Recommended viewing areas include Biltmore and Patton avenues. Governor Attends Ribbon-Cutting For Pratt and Whitney

She says she's hoping to have a different evaluation system in place for next school year.

(Hendersonville, NC) -- The suspect in a Hendersonville murder is guilty. Natalie Miller was arrested in December 2019 after shooting her boyfriend at her home. Investigators say she took money from the victim's wallet to go buy dinner before coming back to the scene. A judge sentenced to her a minimum of 30-years.

Acreage Added For Buncombe County Conservation

(Charlotte, NC) -- The FBI is looking into details surrounding the death of a Charlotte woman in Mexico. Investigators there say 25-year-old Shanquella Robinson died of alcohol poisoning last week. Her death certificate, though, reportedly states it was due to a spinal cord injury. Her family says a video showing Robinson being beaten has surfaced on social media.

Potential Voter Intimidation Investigated In Salisbury

(Salisbury, NC) -- A case of potential voter intimidation is being investigated in Salisbury. The state board of elections is looking into 20 such allegations across North Carolina. The instance in Salisbury involved a campaigner who refused to keep a proper distance from curbside voters and called the chief judge a derogatory term. The board of commissioners heard from the public last night on how it wants to shell out 32-and-a-half-million-dollars over the next 18-years. Roads Closing For Thanksgiving Parade

(Charlotte, NC) -- The city of Charlotte is making preparations ahead of the Novant Health Thanksgiving Parade. The block on Tryon between Brooklyn Village and Good Samaritan Way will shut down starting Tuesday morning. Remaining portions of Tryon Street and Martin Luther King, Junior Boulevard will be closed starting early Wednesday morning ahead of that evening's parade. The route runs from 9th to Morehead along Tryon.

Human Remains ID'd In Gaston County

(Gaston County, NC) -- Remains discovered in Gaston County last week are those of a man missing since the summer. Investigators say Qunitin Lee Allen Roark was last seen on Flat Rock Drive in mid-July. The identity of the remains was released yesterday. Foul play is not suspected.

The move will add nearly 200 technician and professional jobs to the local economy. Video Shows Greensboro Man Being Beaten in Georgia Jail

(Greensboro, NC) -- The local sheriff's office in Camden County, Georgia is investigating an alleged beating of a Greensboro man who was being held in their jail. Video released by Jarret Hobbs' legal team reportedly shows Camden County officers attacking him when he was locked in his cell. The Camden Chapter of the NAACP says the September incident is the latest in a string of complaints that have all been dismissed by the same judge. Hobbs is currently being held in Guilford County, awaiting a transfer to a federal facility.

WGHP-TV says its sources relay that Avion Bell will still face first-degree murder charges following the death of 72-year-old Patricia Grant in July 2021. Police say Grant was an employee at popular Speedway gas station when she was shot to death after she refusing to let Bell rob the store.

No Change Likely In Election Results From Forsyth County Absentee Ballots

(Winston-Salem, NC) -- The director of elections in Forsyth County says the voting on absentee ballots likely won't change the outcome of last week's elections. Tim Tsujii says in many cases the winning candidate had won by too wide a margin for the remaining ballots to make a difference. The county elections board will meet Thursday to rule on absentee and provisional ballots and will certify the election results Friday.

NBA Star To Graduate from Winston-Salem State University Next Month

(Winston-Salem, NC) -- NBA all-Star Chris Paul says he'll finally graduate from college next month. The Phoenix Suns stand-out said on social media Tuesday that he will take part in graduation ceremonies December 16th at Winston-Salem State University after completing his B.A. in communications. The power point guard tells the Arizona Republic that he's been "a college student since 2003," when he attended Wake Forest. The now 37-year-old was drafted in the NBA as a sophomore in 2005.
