Campaign finance reports show former North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory's campaign spent more than a $250,000 on its protests of the election results. The McCrory campaign set up a legal defense fund to prepare for a recount in the gubernatorial race. The total spent was $260,000. The expenditures included legal bills and travel and payroll for campaign workers who were kept on board weeks after the election.
