North Carolina's local judicial elections may once again be partisan. The state House elections committee gave approval Tuesday to a bill that would restore partisan elections for District Court and Superior Court judges. Superior Court races have been nonpartisan in North Carolina since 1996, District Court races since 2001. Democrats are largely opposing the move. The bill now goes to the House floor.
