Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools are closing next Wednesday in anticipation of many employees participating a "Day Without Women" protest. The school system is using a teacher workday to replace the instruction time, meaning students would not have to make up that day later in the year. The News and Observer reports Durham County Schools are considering doing the same thing. Wednesday is International Women's Day.
