JC Penney is shutting down up to 140 stores nationwide, and two locations in North Carolina could be affected.
The department store chain hasn't yet revealed which stores are on the chopping block, but Morningstar Credit Ratings has a good idea. The investment research firm is out with a list of stores most at risk of closing based on sales data. It turns out locations in Matthews and Greenville aren't doing so hot.
JC Penney says it's going to shut down the stores that require a significant capital investment or have below-average sales.
