The NCAA awards a series of championship host opportunities to North Carolina, in the wake of the House Bill Two repeal. The NCAA chose North Carolina as the site of more than a dozen championship events between 2019 and 2022. Most notably, Greensboro will host first and second round games of the men’s basketball tournament in 2020, Raleigh will do the same in 2021. Greensboro will also host a women’s basketball regional in 2019. Charlotte's three bids to host men's basketball tournament games were not selected. Charlotte will host first and second round games next season.
