You won't be held up by construction on most North Carolina roads during Memorial Day weekend.
The Department of Transportation has suspended work on most of their projects in hopes of easing some congestion during the holiday weekend. The DOT says to avoid heavy traffic, leave early and be patient. You can always call 511 for real-time traffic information.
There will be more patrols on the road, too, enforcing the Memorial Day Click It or Ticket campaign.
