Duke Energy Proposes Another Site For Substation

Before Duke Energy purchases a property for a new substation, they want the surrounding residents and businesses to give them guidelines.

After several site proposals were shot down by residents in other areas, Duke is looking at the abandoned Volvo dealership at the corner of Patton and Clingman avenues.

The company is holding meetings to hear from locals about how they can coexist and offering a new plan to build retaining walls, fences and tree buffers to hide the station.

Duke says a new substation is necessary to accommodate growing energy needs in Asheville.
