Duke Energy is working to get power restored throughout the state after what was left of Irma blew through.
However, the majority of the 49,000 customers who were without power statewide yesterday afternoon were in Western North Carolina.
As of yesterday afternoon, 38,000 customers were without power with nearly 15,000 of those being in Buncombe County.
Duke Energy officials say their crews have been slowed down by high winds at times.
