Man Dies After Rescue From French Broad River (Asheville, NC)

A South Carolina man who fell into the French Broad River yesterday while tubing is dead.  The Asheville Fire Department helped pull the man from the river near the Salvage Station on Riverside Drive.  Some bystanders were reportedly attempting CPR on the man while they were still in the river.  He later died at Mission Hospital.  

Food Poisoning Symptoms Break Out In Transylvania County (Transylvania County, NC)

Health officials are trying to figure out what's causing an increase of food poisoning symptoms in Transylvania County.  They haven't been able to find a link in the cases, although several complaints came in from the same fast food restaurant in Brevard.  Patients showed up on Monday and into Tuesday with the symptoms.  WLOS-TV says health officials found nothing out of the ordinary at the restaurant in question.      

Heavy Rains Expected In WNC (Undated)

A flash flood watch remains in effect for Western North Carolina through tomorrow night.  The National Weather Service says several rounds of heavy rain showers and thunderstorms will persist for the next couple of days.  Three to five inches of rain are expected across the mountains with localized amounts up to six inches.  

Brunson To Remain Under House Arrest In Turkey (Black Mountain, NC)

The lawyer of a Black Mountain pastor under house arrest in Turkey says his appeal to have the man released was rejected.  Andrew Brunson has been held since 2016 for accusations that he helped a terrorist organization.  He's next expected to appear for a hearing in October.  The attorney said he will continue to request Brunson's release from house arrest until then.         

Reward Offered In Murder Of 12-Year-Old (Asheville, NC)

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information on the murder of a 12-year-old-boy in Asheville.  The boy and an 18-year-old were shot at Lee Walker Heights a month ago.  The 18-year-old survived, but the younger boy died later at Mission Hospital.  The reward is for up to five-thousand dollars leading to an arrest.    

BCBS Looking To Lower Premiums In State (Raleigh, NC)

North Carolinians using Blue Cross Blue Shield Obamacare plans could see a rate decrease.  The company says it is requesting an average four-point-one percent decrease that must be approved by the Department of Insurance.  The president of North Carolina Blue Cross says it would be the state's first individual market rate decrease.  Blue Cross is offered in every state county.    

CMPD:  Officer Opens Fire At Airport Parking Deck (Charlotte, NC)

The CMPD says an officer opened fire on a car at a Charlotte-Douglas Airport parking deck last night.  Officers were in the deck after an airport employee told them about a suspicious vehicle.  Chief Kerr Putney said one officer shot at the vehicle because he felt he was in imminent danger.  One source told WSOC-TV that the suspicious vehicle later showed up at CMC-Main.
