Hurricane Michael Remains on Track To Impact State (Undated)

Hurricane Matthew is on a track to make an impact in North Carolina this week.  The National Hurricane Center predicts it will be at major hurricane strength before making landfall on the Florida panhandle Wednesday.  Western North Carolina may see anywhere from two to five inches of rain.  Some of the central part of the state that was just hit hard by Hurricane Florence is currently expected to get up to five inches of rain through the end of the week. 

Lottery Money Going Towards School Repairs (Raleigh, NC)

Governor Roy Cooper is attempting to speed up repairs by using 25-million-dollars in lottery funds to help school districts recover from Hurricane Florence.  Almost 90-thousand students in more than 130 schools in North Carolina remain out of class due to damages.  The funding is expected to alleviate the strain many districts are facing after running out of their own contingency funds.  Some of that money should be reimbursed on the federal level.  

Death Penalty To Be Decided For Two Suspects (Henderson County, NC)

Two men accused of Henderson County murders will soon find out if the death penalty is part of their fates if convicted.  WLOS-TV says the decision will be made in an early November hearing.  Anthony Moore is accused of killing a woman who died six months after he allegedly lit her on fire.  Terry Brank faces murder for the death of a woman killed inside her Hendersonville home with an edged weapon.

Man Arrested For Kidnapping, Sexual Assault (Buncombe County, NC)

A man is being accused of sexually assaulting a woman after kidnapping her in Buncombe County.  Shannon Lee Fox is now in jail under no bond.  Investigators say Fox was also accused of beating and strangling the woman.            

Suspect Arrested For Public Stabbing (Boone, NC)

A Watauga man is facing charges of assault for an alleged stabbing near a Publix in Boone.  Investigators say the victim was stabbed in the torso Sunday afternoon and is currently in stable condition after surgery.  The suspect was arrested and remains in the Watauga County Detention Center.   

Biltmore To Showcase Vanderbilt Exhibit (Buncombe County, NC)

The Biltmore Estate is soon giving visitors a first-hand look of what it was like to hang out with the Vanderbilts.  The exhibit A Vanderbilt House Party: Guests, Grandeur & Galas opens in February for a near four-month run.  Visitors will be able to take an audio-guided tour that showcases period clothing reproduced by an Oscar-winning costume designer.  The tour is included with regular admission to the Biltmore House.

Hurricane Michael To Bring Rain To Charlotte (Charlotte, NC)

Hurricane Matthew is on a track to make an impact in Charlotte this week.  The National Hurricane Center predicts it will be at major hurricane strength before making landfall on the Florida panhandle Wednesday.  Rain from the storm is expected to creep into the Piedmont region on Wednesday, with heavy downpours to follow on Thursday.  Current predictions call for up to five inches of rain by the end of the week.
