Hendersonville Armed Robbery Suspects At-Large (Hendersonville, NC)

Two suspects from an armed robbery in Hendersonville are on the run.  The victim told Henderson County sheriff's investigators that they were robbed at gunpoint by a man and woman near Kanuga Road on Saturday morning.  They were thought to be in a silver Kia SUV.  The sheriff's office said the man, identified as Cameron Sellers, may have been in the Dana Road area of Hendersonville on Sunday.  

Humane Society In WNC Helping Care For Neglected Dogs (Sapphire, NC)

A Western North Carolina animal organization is helping over 150 German Shepherds recover from what officials described as horrific living conditions at a Georgia home.  They were reportedly found malnourished in Candler County last week just off I-16 in east Georgia.  The Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society is joining other groups in efforts to care for the dogs and have them adopted.  The property owner was arrested for animal cruelty.  

Officer Charged With DWI Resigns (Hendersonville, NC)

A Hendersonville police officer who was charged with a DWI is off the force.  Andy Massey was off duty when his car was found wrecked and abandoned in a ditch on North Carolina 191 more than a week ago.  He was reportedly later found at home with a blood alcohol level more than two times the legal limit.  The Hendersonville Police Department had placed Massey on leave before he submitted his resignation. 

APD Investigating Sunday Armed Robberies (Asheville, NC)

Asheville Police are investigating two Sunday night armed robberies.  They happened within 40 minutes of each other at a mini-mart off Patton Avenue and a convenience store near downtown.  The suspect was reportedly masked in both cases.  Investigators don't believe the cases are connected at this time.  

DOT Repairing Landslide (Gerton, NC)

The DOT is dealing with another landslide that has closed part of a Western North Carolina highway.  A maintenance engineer told WLOS-TV that the land began shifting on Highway 74 Alternate last summer when Tropical Storm Alberto came through.  Recent rains have caused the slide to worsen and it could take months to repair.  One lane is shut down about halfway between Gerton and Bat Cave.      

Living Wage Rises In Asheville (Asheville, NC)

The living wage in Asheville is rising.  The non-profit organization Just Economics says that the living wage has risen to 13-dollars and 65-cents an hour because of higher rent prices.  It was 13-dollars two years ago.  WLOS-TV says more than 400 entities have signed a contract with Just Economics, which allows them to be randomly audited over paying the living wage.

Woman Hit, Killed By Two Cars (Charlotte, NC)

The CMPD says a woman was hit by two cars and killed on Saturday morning.  She was hit on South Tryon Street in southwest Charlotte while reportedly waiting on a tow truck to pick up her disabled car at a convenience store.  Officers said both drivers stayed at the scene.

Resident Holds Up Stolen Car Suspect With Gun (Charlotte, NC)

A SouthPark neighborhood resident is being credited with helping stop a stolen vehicle suspect on Saturday night.  CMPD officers were chasing four suspects who jumped out of a Ford Explorer on Moncure Drive.  One of them allegedly ran up the steps to a home where a resident was waiting armed with a gun.  That man and another were arrested, but two other suspects are still at-large. 

Infant Still Fighting For Life After Fire (Charlotte, NC)

An infant is reportedly still fighting for his life days after being injured in an east Charlotte fire.  A mother and two of her children have already died from injuries in the Academy Street blaze last week.  A friend who was at the home at the time of the fire told NBC Charlotte that a three-month-old boy remains at the burn unit.  Charlotte fire investigators believe the flames started from an unattended candle. 

CMPD Investigating NE Charlotte Shooting (Charlotte, NC)

The CMPD is investigating a shooting in northeast Charlotte.  One person was found with a gunshot wound on Pimpernel Road last night around nine.  The victim was rushed to the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries.  

Karate Instructor Helps Thwart Attempted Kidnapper (Charlotte, NC)

Investigators say an instructor at a Charlotte karate dojo helped stop an attempted kidnapping last Thursday night.  The suspect allegedly followed a woman into the Bushiken Karate Charlotte Dojo on Statesville Avenue moments after he tried to force her into his car.  Sensei Randall Ephraim and his class helped fend off the suspect and kept an eye on him when he ran out of the studio.  The CMPD believes he was on drugs when they arrested him a short time later.        

Catawba County Family Wins Big With Funny Video (Catawba County, NC)

A family from Catawba County is cashing in big thanks to a TV show.  The Dagenharts won the big 100-thousand-dollar prize on last night's episode of America's Funniest Home Videos.  The winning video shows a teenage son feeling the effects of laughing gas after he had his wisdom teeth pulled.  His mother told WSOC-TV that the video went viral after she uploaded it to Facebook.
