Shooting Suspect At-Large In Rutherford County

(Rutherford County, NC) -- Rutherford County sheriff's deputies are looking for the suspect in a Sunday shooting. The victim was shot multiple times in the Cliffside community. He was being treated at Spartanburg Regional Hospital in South Carolina. The suspect has been identified as Casey Whitesides, who was previously wanted for stealing a car and drug charges.

Officer Shoots, Kills Man In Watauga County

(Watauga County, NC) -- The Watauga County sheriff's office says one man was killed in an officer-involved shooting over the weekend. A deputy was reportedly attacked while checking on an area of Hardin Road east of Boone around midnight Saturday, where a suspect was trying to break into some homes. The deputy shot the man in the struggle. The SBI has now been called in to investigate.

Freeze Warning In Effect For Part Of WNC

(Undated) -- A freeze warning is in effect this morning for Rutherford and eastern Polk counties. The National Weather Service says freezing temperatures are expected until at least 9 a.m. Conditions could be dangerous for crops and sensitive vegetation. There is a slight chance of snow for the watch area on Tuesday morning.

One Dead In Madison County Accident

(Madison County, NC) -- Fire officials in western North Carolina say one woman died in an accident on Friday on Highway 208 in Madison County. A pickup truck and tractor trailer reportedly crashed head-on, which killed the pickup driver on impact. The driver of the tractor trailer wasn't injured.

Woman Arrested In Catawba County With Meth

(Catawba County, NC) -- A Catawba County woman is facing methamphetamine trafficking charges. Deputies reportedly found one woman over the weekend with an alleged 11 ounces of the drug. The street value of the meth was reported to have a street value of a little more than 250-thousand-dollars. The suspect is facing charges in Caldwell and Catawba counties.

Blue Ridge Parkway Completely Open

(Undated) -- The Blue Ridge Parkway is completely open in North Carolina. The Asheville Citizen-Times is reporting that it is the first time this year that the stretch has been completely open in the state. The parkway has a real-time road map to check for up-to-date closings.

Body Found In Lake Wylie

(Charlotte, NC) -- The CMPD is investigating the discovery of a body in Lake Wylie. A boater reportedly spotted the body in the Buster Boyd Bridge area on Sunday night. NBC Charlotte is reporting that it's the same area where Vatsla Watkins' car was found more than a week ago. She has been missing since March 18th.

Woman Shot At UNCC Housing

(Charlotte, NC) -- The suspect of a shooting at a UNC-Charlotte student housing complex is at-large. The CMPD says a woman was shot on University City Boulevard early Sunday morning. A dog was also injured in the shooting. It may have stemmed from an argument at a party.

CMPD Investigates SW Charlotte Homicide

(Charlotte, NC) -- A homicide is being investigated in southwest Charlotte. Officers found a man shot to death during a domestic disturbance call on Bon-Rea Drive early Sunday morning. There have been no arrests announced at this time.

Pedestrian Dies In Accident Early Sunday

(Charlotte, NC) -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are piecing together details from a deadly pedestrian accident. A man was hit by a car at South Tryon and Westinghouse Boulevard early Sunday morning. He died at the hospital. No information has been released on if the car stopped at the scene or if any charges have been filed.

Man Dies After Shelby Shooting

(Shelby, NC) -- Shelby Police say a man died after being shot at a home Saturday night. Officers found a 35-year-old man injured on West Circle Drive. He was pronounced dead at Atrium Health Cleveland. No arrests have been made.

Mall Worker Stabbed By Shoplifters

(Durham, NC) -- Police in Durham are investigating after a worker was stabbed during a shoplifting. They say yesterday, two women tried to steal from a store at The Streets at Southpoint. A loss prevention officer approached them and was seriously injured. Police say the two women took off in a four-door car. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Duke Falls To Michigan In The NCAA Elite Eight Round

(Washington, DC) -- Duke's NCAA tournament run has come to an end this year. Last night, Michigan State edged out the Blue Devils 68-67 in the elite eight round. With about 30-seconds left in the game, Michigan hit a stunning three-pointer to take the lead. The Spartans move on to play Texas Tech. This is the first time Michigan has made it to the Final Four in four years.

Teenage Firefighter Dies In An ATV Crash

(Johnston Co., NC) -- A Johnston County teen is being mourned after an ATV crash. Officials say on Saturday night, 17-year-old Brock Currens was killed driving an ATV at Galot Motorsports in Benson. He was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead. Currens was a junior at South Johnston High School in Four Oaks and was a volunteer firefighter.

Two Deadly Durham Shootings

(Durham, NC) -- Police in Durham are investigating two deadly shootings this weekend. They say on Saturday, a man was killed on Palmer Street, just off of Chapel Hill Road. Police say just a day later, just a few blocks away, another man was gunned down in a parking lot. No arrests have been announced. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Wake Forest DUI Crash

(Wake Forest, NC) -- A man is facing DUI and child abuse charges after a crash in Wake Forest. Police say on Saturday, 31-year-old Jerry Stallings crashed into a historic building at the corner of Brewer and East Chestnut Avenue. Both he and a toddler that was in the car with him, were taken to the hospital. There's no word on the toddler's condition.

Troubling Child Abuse Arrests In Iredell County

(Statesville, NC) -- Deputies in Iredell County are investigating after a serious child abuse case. They say last week, 71-year-old Frances Miller held a 12-year-old boy's arms behind his back while 20-year-old Dustin Miller punched the kid in the face. They say the pair then left the boy duct taped to a chair overnight. Social services were called, and both Millers were charged with multiple felonies. They were sent to jail, but have bonded out.

Freeze Warning In Effect For Piedmont Triad

(Winston-Salem, NC) -- A Freeze Warning is in effect for most of the Piedmont Triad. Temperatures are expected to drop to as low as 31 degrees in some areas, according to the National Weather Service. That means plants and animals should be protected. Temperatures are supposed to be back to normal by Wednesday.

Asheboro Police Looking For Shooting Suspect

(Asheboro, NC) -- Asheboro police are looking for a teenager who shot a customer at a corner store after he tried to rob the guy. Officers say 17-year-old Delwon Roberts should be considered armed and dangerous. He's accused of shooting 31-year-old Matthew Wrike at the C-Store on East Salisbury and North Elm streets Saturday night. Wrike is expected to be okay. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call Asheboro PD.

Winston-Salem PD Looking For Missing 17-Year-Old Girl

(Winston-Salem, NC) -- A Silver Alert is in effect for a Winston-Salem teen who disappeared over the weekend. Seventeen-year-old Caitlin Adams was last seen on Saturday evening near Ardmore Road and Asherton Court. Police say she was in a blue Honda sedan and could be with two or three men. They also say she suffers from a cognitive impairment. Adams is described as five-foot-four and about 204 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1.

Woman Killed, Man Hurt In Thomasville Wreck

(Thomasville, NC) -- A woman is dead and a man is hurt after a single-car crash in Thomasville. It happened Saturday evening near U.S. Highway 311 and Thomasville Road. Police say the car ran off the road and rolled. Twenty-six-year-old Whiney Pettus was killed, and 27-year-old Deshawn Bullock was injured. Police are still trying to figure out who was driving and what caused the car to leave the road.

Duke Out Of NCAA Tournament

(Washington, DC) -- Duke's NCAA tournament run is over. Michigan State advanced to the Final Four after slipping past Duke 68-67 in the East Regional Final in Washington, DC. The Spartans will take on third-seeded Texas Tech next weekend in Minneapolis.
