Ahead of what is expected to be a torrential impact from the remnants of Hurricane Zeta, several school districts across the mountains have canceled or delayed classes for Thursday, October 29th.
Buncombe Schools released a statement a short time ago cancelling all online and in-person classes.
Buncombe County Schools:
"All remote and in-person learning in Buncombe County Schools for tomorrow, Thursday, October 29 will be canceled. This is due to local forecasts predicting high winds, heavy rain, and widespread power outages beginning early in the morning. This will make school bus travel and remote learning difficult.
For licensed staff, it will be anoptional teacher work-day. Eleven and twelve-month non-licensed employees may report to work or take annual leave.
Instructional assistants should not report to work.
Employees, please use your best judgment when deciding whether you can safely travel to and from work tomorrow. If you have any concerns about work or leave, please work with your principal or supervisor directly."
