(Raleigh, NC) -- North Carolina's Republican Party is voting to censure U.S. Senator Richard Burr following his vote to convict former President Trump during the Senate's impeachment trial. Party members placed the emergency vote last night. Chairman Michael Whatley said Burr was sent to Washington to uphold the Constitution. He added his decision to join with six other Republicans in voting to convict Trump was shocking and disappointing.
Search For Missing Woman In Buncombe Co.
(Buncombe Co., NC) -- Buncombe County deputies are searching for a missing woman from Candler. Twenty-one-year-old Michael Michelle Little was last seen on February 8th. Deputies say she may have been headed to the Forest City or Morgantown area. Little is described as five-feet tall and 135 pounds. She has a "cry baby" tattoo on her right shoulder. Anyone with information on Little's whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1.
NC Reports Decline In COVID-19 Cases
(Asheville, NC) -- The daily number of COVID-19 cases continues to drop. Two-thousand-458 cases were reported yesterday. That's the lowest single-day total since before Thanksgiving. The percent positive rate is seven-point-seven. Hospitalizations stand at about one-thousand-940.
Public Works App Launches In Hendersonville
(Hendersonville, NC) -- Hendersonville is rolling out a new app for residents to report non-emergency public works issues. The Citizen Reporter app allows folks to report code violations, park maintenance issues and other non-urgent matters. City manager John Connet says their goal is to provide quality and efficient services to residents and customers.
Asheville Brewery To Open In March
(Asheville, NC) -- A new brewery is opening up in West Asheville. Cellarest Beer Project is located on the corner of Haywood Road and Richmond Avenue. The owners tell ABC 13 they plan to serve their own beer while providing a laid-back atmosphere with outside seating and local musicians. Soft-openings start this week. The brewery will fully open in March.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Welcome Back Students
(Charlotte, NC) -- Some 26-thousand students in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District are back in the classroom. The students were welcomed back for hybrid in-person learning yesterday. They're a part of Group A, which includes elementary-aged students and some students with disabilities. Another wave, Group B, heads back on Thursday. By Friday, close to 46-thousand students will be back in a classroom.
Three People Arrested In Caldwell Co. Drug Bust
(Caldwell Co., NC) -- Three people are under arrest in connection to a drug operation in Caldwell County. Jermaine Grandy, Nevaeh Grandy and Khyran Littlejohn are facing multiple counts of trafficking opioids. Deputies seized 36-thousand fentanyl pills and more than 30 guns during their investigation. The suspects are behind bars on 500-thousand and 100-thousand-dollar secured bonds.

Man Found Dead Inside Camper In Concord
(Concord, NC) -- An investigation is underway in Concord where a man was found dead in his camper. The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office responded to Mobile Trail Drive late Sunday night. COVID-19 Key Metrics Continuing To Trend Downward In NC
(Raleigh, NC) -- The latest data released by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services showed that more than 1-point-7 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered. This as the number of people hospitalized have also dropped to the lowest level since the end of November at one thousand-941. The number of new cases was also down to two thousand-458 Monday, a decrease of 712-from the day before. There were 10-additional deaths yesterday, which brought the total to 10-thousand-501.
Man And Woman Facing Multiple Charges Related To Leaving Baby Outdoors
(Wilson, NC) -- Authorities in Wilson are holding a local father and his girlfriend on child abuse charges after they allegedly left a four month old baby outside Sunday night in sub-freezing temperatures. Daryl Barnes the Third and Kenosha Parker are now facing charges of felony child abuse and attempted first degree murder. Investigators say after reviewing surveillance video from America's Best Value Inn on U.S. Highway 301, the baby was found outside on the hotel's property. The child was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville and was last listed in critical condition.
Proposed New Law Would Punish Local Governments For Defunding The Police
(Raleigh, NC) -- A bill has been introduced in the North Carolina Senate that would levy penalties against local governments who cut funding to police and sheriff's departments. Senate Bill 100, sponsored by state Senator Chuck Edwards of Flat Rock, would reduce state funding to any city, town or county that cuts salaries or other expenses for law enforcement by more than one-percent of their annual budgets. At a news conference Monday, Edwards says the legislation was inspired by protests last summer that called for Defunding the Police.

(Davidson Co., NC) -- An AMBER Alert is in effect for a Davidson County teenager. Fourteen-year-old Savannah Childress was last seen on Thursday, February 11th in Denton. She's described as five-foot-six and 135 pounds. Police say she was last seen wearing a Mickey Mouse sweatshirt and black and neon shoes. They also say she could be with a man named Will Hedglin. High Point Woman Charged With Murder In Death Of Child
(High Point, NC) -- A High Point woman is under arrest in connection to the death of her one-year-old son. Thirty-three-year-old Taporscha Franklin is charged with murder and child abuse. Police say the baby died on January 26th of blunt force trauma. The medical examiner also noticed previous injuries on him. Franklin is being held in the Guilford County Jail.

King Public Library Closed Due To COVID-19 Case
