Shooting Investigated In Downtown Asheville
(Asheville, NC) -- Asheville police are investigating a homicide in downtown. Officers say a 24-year-old man died after being shot yesterday on Spruce Street, close to the police department. WLOS-TV reports the victim was jut released from the Foothills Correctional Institution earlier this year. A person of interest is being questioned in the shooting, but no charges have been released.
Little League Tourney Delayed After Shots Fired
(Wilson, NC) -- A shooting investigation is having an effect on a western North Carolina little league baseball tournament. Officers with the Wilson Police Department responded yesterday to the Gillette Athletic Complex in Macon County, where shots were reportedly fired. A car was hit by gunfire, but no one was found injured. A little league all-star tournament was canceled for the day.
Two Asheville Bus Routes Running Again
(Asheville, NC) -- Some bus routes in Asheville are being used again thanks to recent hirings. The N-Three and W-Six route were affected earlier this year due to driver shortages, but it appears to be a problem in the past now. Asheville Rides Transit says the route services resumed their normal times yesterday. Applications are still being accepted for more bus drivers.
Driver Wanted In Swannanoa Hit-And-Run
(Swannanoa, NC) -- The search is underway for the driver of a deadly hit-and-run in Swannanoa. The driver of a motorcycle was killed in a crash on U.S. 70 late Thursday night. The suspect was driving a red Ford Edge or Lincoln MKX. The car will have front-end or bumper damage.

Asheville 5K To Help The Homeless
(Asheville, NC) -- A benefit is coming up for an Asheville non-profit working to help the homeless. The Light Up the Night 5K will be held for the fourth time on August 5th. Participants are urged to wear glow-in-the-dark accessories and neon colors. Proceeds benefit Western Carolina Rescue Ministries.
CLT Misses Out On Federal Funding
(Charlotte, NC) -- Some federal funding is being denied for Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. NBC Charlotte says C-L-T is not listed among airports to receive money from the Biden administration's one-billion-dollar infrastructure grant. The airport is planning another phase of an expansion in Concourse A. A spokesperson says the airport will still apply for funding in year-two of the program.
Kannapolis Double Homicide Suspect Arrested
(Kannapolis, NC) -- A suspect in a Kannapolis double homicide is behind bars. It's been just over a month since a man and woman were shot to death at a home daycare near downtown. There were no children at the home at the time of the deaths. U.S. Marshals arrested the suspect in Lexington on Saturday.

Man Drowns In Union County
(Union County, NC) -- The search for a drowning victim is over in Union County. Investigators say a man disappeared while swimming on Lake Monroe late Saturday afternoon. He was reportedly fishing with another man when he decided to jump in the water. Search crews found the man's body shortly after he went missing.
Suspect Arrested After Deadly Wreck In Chester County
(Chester County, SC) -- A suspected drunk driver is facing charges in a deadly Chester County wreck. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says a van collided with an SUV on I-77 North late Sunday afternoon. One person died and three people were hurt. Troopers charged the driver of the van with a DUI involving death.
UNCC Helping Collect Crayons
