Six Charged After Multiple People Stabbed In An Airbnb
(Madison County, NC) -- Six people are facing charges related to a quadruple stabbing in Madison County Monday. The incident happened at an Airbnb rental in a remote area near Brush Creek Elementary. All of the individuals involved in the stabbing were vacationing and reportedly staying at the rental. In addition to assault charges, all of the six suspects are charged with possession of illegal drugs, including psilocybin mushrooms.
Asheville Considering Crime Prevention Partnership With Local Sheriff
(Buncombe County, NC) -- The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office is looking to expand through a new partnership with the City of Asheville. Per the terms of a new agreement, the sheriff's office would have permission to install cameras on city-owned properties. Those cameras would link to the Buncombe County Real Time Intelligence Center, allowing first responders access to real-time video during emergencies. The deal is now awaiting final approval from Asheville City Council.
Questions Regarding 11th District Handoff As Cawthorn Moves To Florida
(Asheville, NC) -- Former Asheville Congressman Madison Cawthorn is now a Florida resident, but some say he has unfinished business in North Carolina. According to a social media post, newly sworn-in Representative Chuck Edwards said Cawthorn didn't provide essential constituent information before he left the state. Edwards replaced Cawthorn in the 11th District and says he has no info regarding unfinished casework for residents seeking help with veterans' benefits, Social Security benefits, and more. The deadline to handover such information, according to House rules, was December 23rd.

Mecklenburg County Park Shooter May Have Been Motivated By Race
(Charlotte, NC) -- Recently released 911 audio is providing more information regarding the shooting of a Mecklenburg County Park Ranger last year. The shooting happened on November 27th at the Friendship Sportsplex on Cindy Lane. Now investigators say the suspect, 36-year-old Tyson Corpening, is connected to an incident at Marizetta Kerry Childhood Development Center in early December. Notes were left at both crime scenes mentioning hurting minorities and the victim of the November shooting told 911 dispatch that Corpening used a slur and said "something about getting rid of" black people.
Police Release Surveillance Photos From Frankie's Fun Park Shooting
(Huntersville, NC) -- Police in Huntersville are releasing surveillance footage from Friday night's shooting at Frankie's Fun Park. The shooting happened in the parking lot just after 10 p.m. Friday. Investigators say it was an argument between two people that led to the shooting. Police are looking for help finding a dark-colored sedan with some kind of tarp covering the rear driver's side window of the vehicle.
Two Arrested After Uber Driver Shot And Robbed Sunday
(Charlotte, NC) -- A South Carolina man is arrested in connection to a shooting of an Uber driver early Sunday morning in Charlotte. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say 38-year-old Antwan Turner fired several shots at the victim's car, hitting him at least once. After the driver was shot, a juvenile passenger that was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting stole the victim's wallet. He was arrested as well.
Woman Shot And Killed In Lincoln County
(Denver, NC) -- The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide in Denver Monday. Deputies responded to a shooting along Sherwood Lane just before 3:30. A yet unidentified woman was shot and killed. This is the first homicide in the county in 2023.
Panthers' 2023 Opponents Revealed
(Charlotte, NC) -- The Carolina Panthers last-second win over the Saints in their final game of the season did more than secure their second-place finish in the NFC South. Truck Driver Dies From Burn Injuries Suffered In Fiery Weekend Crash In Harnett County
(Harnett County, NC) -- The driver of a tractor-trailer truck, who was involved in a fiery crash in Harnett County this past weekend has died. Officials at UNC Hospital say 59-year old Richard Llamas of Florida, passed away after being treated for severe burns suffered when his 18-wheeler struck an overpass on I-95 south on Saturday and burst into flames. Four other motorists trying to avoid the wreckage were involved in a multi-car pileup. One of them received minor injuries.
Apex Middle School Student Caught With Airsoft BB Gun In Backpack
(Apex, NC) -- There were some scary moments at Apex Middle School Monday, after a student was found to be in possession of a potentially dangerous weapon. According to the school's principal, an airsoft BB gun was found in the student's backpack after it was reported by another student. There were no injuries and law enforcement officers responded immediately to investigate. No word on what disciplinary action will be taken against the student.

Leaders In Wendell Vote To Approve New Social District For Downtown
(Wendell, NC) -- Members of the Wendell Board of Commissioners have voted to allow the establishment of a new social district. At its regular meeting last night, leaders approved an ordinance locating the social district in the downtown area, allowing patrons of bars and restaurants to carry open containers of alcohol outside, while going from business to business. The social district is expected to get underway in the spring of this year.
Former North Carolina Courage Head Coach Banned From NWSL For Life
(Cary, NC) -- Former North Carolina Courage head coach Paul Riley has been banned from the National Women's Soccer League for life. The action comes after multiple investigations determined Riley engaged in inappropriate conduct while leading the Courage and several other franchises over the past several years. In a statement released Monday, the League said Riley was one of four former women's soccer coaches to receive lifetime bans. The Courage organization was also fined 100-thousand dollars.
Police Search For Answers In Family Murders-Suicides
(High Point, NC) - High Point Police Lieutenant Patrick Welsh says though investigators continue to search for answers, they may never know why three children and two adults were killed Saturday morning. Officials say it was a scenario of murder-suicide in a home on Mossy Meadow Drive. Police believe Robert Crayton Junior, who was 45, shot and killed his wife, Athalia Crayton and their 18-year-old Kasin Crayton. A 16-year-old and 10-year-old child were also killed. Of the two people who'd gone for help, one lived in the home and the other person was a visitor.
Greensboro Mayor Affirms City's Working Thwart Downtown Violence after Shooting
(Greensboro, NC) -- Mayor Nancy Vaughan says the city continues to step up its efforts to decrease violence in downtown Greensboro. Her statement Monday comes after an early-morning shooting Sunday at a parking deck near North Greene Street. The mayor says that the city is increasing patrols and working with business owners to make the area safer. She also says that the city will continue to hold people accountable for their actions regarding the violence.
Warrants Issued For Men Involved In 'Dads Against Predators' Shooting At Target
(Winston-Salem, NC) -- One person from North Carolina has turned himself in and three others from Ohio are wanted on outstanding warrants for a shooting incident at a Target store last year. Winston-Salem police investigators released more information about the case Monday, saying they'd issued the warrants after determining that the four men lured Dontaye Wade to the store on Hanes Mall Boulevard to punish him for being an alleged child abuser. Wade has not been charged or investigated for child abuse. Investigators say the suspects are from "Dads Against Predators," an online group whose members lure suspected predators to pubic areas to get them arrested.
Rep. Virginia Foxx Chairs Ed and the Workforce Committee Again
(Winston-Salem, NC) -- Rep. Virginia Foxx, a Republican who represents the Winston-Salem area in the U.S. House, has been chosen to chair the House Education and the Workforce Committee again. She had to get a waiver to be the chair because of Republican leadership term limits. Foxx previously lead the committee from 2017 to 2019 before Democrats took control of the House.
Winston-Salem State Chancellor To Step Down
(Winston-Salem, NC) -- Winston-Salem State University Chancellor Elwood Robinson is retiring. The school said Monday that Robinson will step down at the end of the current semester. He has led the university for eight years. NC System President Peter Hans appointed Anthony Graham as interim chancellor. He's currently the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at W-S-S-U.
