(Greensboro, NC) -- Greensboro Police are confirming seven people were shot at a nightclub early Sunday morning. Police responded to Southside Johnny's on West Market Street just before 3 a.m. yesterday. At last check, one of the victims had died and six others suffered various injuries. There is currently no suspect information.

(Asheville, NC) -- Asheville Police Chief David Zack is responding to the deadly assault of Tyre Nichols at the hands of five Memphis police officers. Chief Zack called the incident "horrific." The local chief added that his department's goal is to weed out any "problem officers" among the ranks to avoid such incidents ever happening. Chief Zack was one of just a handful of law enforcement officers to issue public statements on Tyre Nichols' death.

Forest City Man Charged After Explosive Found On Property

(Forest City, NC) -- One man is facing charges after police were called to his property in Forest City Saturday night. Reports are officers heard gunshots going off in the backyard of the home on Old Wagy Road. The resident was taken into custody without further incident. While in custody, the man told officers that he had set up multiple improvised explosive devices throughout the backyard.

South Carolina Robbery Suspect From Nebo Arrested

(McDowell County, NC) -- The man wanted in connection to an out-of-state gas station robbery is in custody. McDowell County Sheriff's Office officials arrested Walter Williamson of Nebo Saturday night. The robbery happened last Thursday at a gas station in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Someone spotted Williamson near the Zaxby's on West Henderson Street Saturday morning and he was arrested hours later.

(King, NC) -- A juvenile bull rider is dead after apparently suffering a cardiac arrest at a rodeo event in King Saturday. EMS responded to the Rafter K Rodeo Company event on South Main Street just before 8:30 p.m. Despite life-saving measures taken by on-site EMTs and Stokes EMS, the juvenile died at the hospital. Rafter K Rodeo Company, LLC released a statement saying, in part, "words cannot describe the pain felt by this loss."

(Charlotte, NC) -- The Charlotta community is coming together in the wake of the death of Tyre Nichols at the hands of five Memphis, Tennessee police officers. Sunday, dozens of local community members joined for a call to action and prayer service for Nichols. The event was held at Marshall Park by the Heal Charlotte organizations. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings was among several local leaders who attended the event.

Victim Found With Single Gunshot Wound In South Charlotte

(Charlotte, NC) -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a deadly shooting on the southside of the city. Officers responded to the 13-hundred block of Choyce Avenue Sunday afternoon on a report of a dead body. The victim suffered a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene. No ID on the victim yet and no suspect has been named.

Longtime Charlotte Christian School Coach Passed From Lung Cancer

(Charlotta, NC) -- The community is mourning the loss of longtime Charlotte-area baseball coach Greg Simmons. Simmons spent 30 years with the Charlotte Christian School. As a head coach, Simmons notched more than 730 career wins including 16 state titles and 22 conference titles. Simmons, who was inducted into the North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association hall of fame in 2016, passed away after a long battle with lung cancer.

Washington County Murder Suspect Believed To Be Somewhere In The Triangle Area

(Triangle Area, NC) -- A suspect wanted for murder in Washington County, is believed to have fled to the Triangle Area. That, according to authorities in Washington County, which announced Sunday that a first degree murder had been issued for 30-year old Raven A. Williams in connection with the death of a man who was found shot multiple times inside a home in the Pea Ridge area. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say Williams, who is to be considered armed and dangerous, was last seen driving a white 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis with North Carolina license plates. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Washington County Sheriff's Office, or the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

Demonstrators Stage Peaceful Protests In Raleigh To Condemn The Deaths Of Two Recent Deaths At The Hands Of Police

The marchers also condemned the death of Darryl Williams, who passed away on January 17th, after being tased by police in Raleigh. Durham County Opioid Settlement Survey Set To End Tomorrow

(Durham County, NC) -- The deadline is tomorrow for residents in Durham County to complete an online survey of the best way to spend funds the government received from the National Opioid Settlement. Durham County's portion will amount to 11.6 million over an 18-year period. The survey seeks public input on opioid mitigation strategies, including treatment, recovery and other life-saving programs that reduce harm from opioid abuse.

Gas Prices Across North Carolina On An Upward Trajectory

(Raleigh, NC) -- The latest survey from Triple-A finds gas prices across North Carolina have jumped 46-cents over the past four weeks. As of Sunday, the average price for a gallon of regular was 3-dollars-36 cents. While the increase is significant, it remains below the national average of 3.50. Experts say a combination of rising crude oil prices, higher demand from China and a slowdown of U.S. refinery production will push prices back up to around 4-dollars by spring.

Shooting Leaves One Dead, Two Others Critical

(Winston-Salem, NC) -- Winston-Salem police are investigating a Sunday-morning shooting that has resulted in a man being killed. Two other people are also now in critical condition from the same incident. Officers were called to a building that reportedly had been rented out for a private party in the 1000 block of North Liberty Street. Police say 29-year-old Darryl Rice Junior died of his injuries on the scene. A 23-year-old man and 17-year-old are in critical condition. The shooting apparently stemmed from an argument.

Greensboro Police Release Name of Shooting Victim Who Died

(Greensboro, NC) - Greensboro Police have released the name of one of the victims who died from a shooting late Saturday night. The incident is now being investigated as a homicide and happened on Pinecroft Road. Police say 26-year-old Kalup Maynard was one of the victims. They've not yet released the name of the other person. The two had been found with serious injuries at the scene but both later died from their injuries.

Juvenile Bill Rider Dies at Rodeo Event

(King, NC) - Stokes County officials have not yet released the name of a young bull rider who died at an event in King. EMS personnel were called to the rodeo Saturday night for the rodeo that was happening at the Stokes County Fairgrounds. Officials say the young person died despite lifesaving measures that were performed at the scene. The age of the person hasn't been released.

One Dies in Shooting at Strip Club

(Winston-Salem, NC) - One person is dead and several others have been injured after a shooting at a strip club in Greensboro. Police say it happened Sunday around three in the morning at Southside Johnny's on West Market Street. A 36-year-old man named Cedric Monroe who was from Greensboro died at the hospital. Several other victims from the same incident are in critical condition.

Greensboro Firefighter Makes History As First Black Woman Captain

(Greensboro, NC) - Greensboro now has its first Black woman fire captain. Temeka Brown was sworn in as fire captain for Fire Station One over the weekend. The department has 120 captains. Brown has worked within the department for ten years. She says she hopes her accomplishment will inspire young girls because she says it's important for them to have representation. Her father, Curtis Brown, is a retired battalion chief with G-F-D. He said he's proud of his daughter's hard work and determination.
