(Asheville, NC) -- One suspect is facing charges in a north Asheville shooting. A victim was injured when shots were fired on Barnard Avenue near UNC Asheville late Saturday night. Officers arrested a 33-year-old man for assault, resisting an officer and more. WLOS-TV reports there were more than a dozen bullet holes in an apartment at the scene.
City Council Member Has Tires Slashed
(Asheville, NC) -- An Asheville city council member says she won't be deterred in her commitment to fight crime, despite vandalism that hits home. Maggie Ullman revealed on Facebook this weekend that the windows on her car were shattered and tires were slashed sometime overnight Thursday. It came after she signed a letter of commitment with other city leaders to support police and have open dialogues about addiction, violence and poverty. Ullman said the experience lifted her resolve.

It's only gone up a penny in the last seven-days, after weeks of significant gains. The price one-month ago was just over 30-cents less. The statewide average is around a nickel more.

(Canton, NC) -- Leaders in Canton are looking to place focus on outdoor recreation as the town faces recovery from a major plant closure. Around one-thousand jobs were affected at the beginning of the summer when the Pactiv Evergreen plant shuttered. Missing Bull Put Down By Owner
(Charlotte, NC) -- The five-day search for a runaway bull in Charlotte is over. The owner of the 900-pound bull reportedly euthanized the animal after it was found on Nance Road Friday night. That's roughly three-miles from where the bull escaped during a storm last Monday night. The CMPD issued the owner restraint and nuisance citations.

Plane Crashes Shortly After Takeoff From Airport In Hickory; Two People Killed
(Hickory, NV) -- The FAA and NTSB are investigating the Sunday crash of a small plane near the Catawba County town of Hickory, that killed two people. Authorities say the single-engine Super Prel Amphibious aircraft took off from Hickory Regional Airport shortly around 11:30 am., then suddenly crashed into Lake Hickory after striking a group of high-tension power lines. Both the pilot and passenger on board were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash also caused temporary power outages to an estimated 18-thousand Duke Energy customers.
Girl Recovering After Being Shot At Birthday Party In Fayetteville
(Fayetteville, NC) -- Police in Fayetteville are looking for the suspects who fired multiple shots outside a birthday party, wounding a teenage girl. It happened around 1 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of a business on Bragg Boulevard, while some 50-other teenagers were inside. Officers responded to a call of shots fired and arrived to find the victim suffering from a bullet wound to the leg. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A Heads-Up About Road Closures In The Triangle This Week

Accused Kidnapping And Sexual Assault Suspect To Appear In Wake County Court Today
(Wake County, NC) -- A man charged with several sexual assault violations against a Raleigh woman last week, is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Wake County today. Records show 41-year old Christopher Joyner kidnapped the woman at gunpoint near Crabtree Valley Mall last Wednesday. The victim claims she was held in "involuntary servitude", sexually assaulted and strangled, before she managed to escape on Turner Street in Raleigh. Joyner is being held on a 750-thousand-dollar bond.

Teen Dies After Crash Into Forsyth County Home

The state highway patrol reports a car ran off North Carolina 66 near Kernersville early Sunday morning before slamming into a brick home. Wreck With Transit Bus Injures Two From Stolen Car
(Winston-Salem, NC) -- Winston-Salem police are investigating a wreck involving a transit bus. Officers say the driver of a stolen car ran through a stop sign at Linn Station and Brownsboro roads Saturday morning. Two people from the stolen car were seriously hurt. None of the four passengers on board the Winston-Salem Transportation Authority bus were injured.
Triad Gas Remains Level
(Guilford County, NC) -- Gas prices in the Triad are leveling off like much of the state. The average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded in Greensboro and Winston-Salem is ranging between three-60 and three-62. Those prices are right around the same cost from one-week ago, but drastically down from mid-July. North Carolina's average cost is three-60.
