WORLD PANICS WHEN FACEBOOK GOES DARK

On Wednesday, the Big Blue App and its companies, Instagram and WhatsApp suffered an outage today for several hours. Facebook users received a pulsating loading screen on their phones or plain white web page Wednesday at mid-day into the evening. Facebook’s Director of Product, TWEETED, that the Facebook platform was out at 930 pm. As of 10pm, the application was not fully restored and users were reporting outages. What caused the problem? Mercury Retrograde, maybe? Or possibly the integration of all of Facebook’s applications across the platforms. That’s what I think. Hopefully, the Facebookerati took some time out to enjoy the nice weather and not trying to figure out when they can post on their timeline.

BOEING RELEASES SOFTWARE UPDATES FOR 737 MAX JETS

In a turn of tragic news, Boeing will be rolling out a software update for its 737 MAX Jets. Boeing is promising to release the updates after Lion Air and Ethiopian Air crashes both involved the 737 MAX 8 plane. The software update will be used to patch the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System. The system is used to compensate piloting the plane with larger engines. Pilots have reported fighting against the controls when MCAS is activated. Boeing issued a bulletin instructing pilots how to turn the feature off, but many pilots didn’t know the feature existed. We live in a world of software and fly-by-wire. These incidents demonstrate just how reliant we are on technology and how we should be responsible for insuring our technology just plain works.

DOCTOR INFORMS PATIENT THEY ARE DYING VIA VIDEO LINK

Earlier this week, a doctor in Fremont, California informed a dying patient and his daughter that he may not make it home from a Kaiser Permanente medical facility. A machine with a live video link rolled into Ernest Quintana’s room and told him and his daughter, Annalisia Wilharm that Ernest’s prognosis is negative. Ernest, 78, died the next day. We often talk about a doctor’s bedside manner, but it’s a bit much when a doctor doesn’t inform a family of a prognosis in person. This is another case where technology is being abused in a way that harms human factors rather than benefits. We shouldn’t treat each other as machines just because we have technology.

8:23- LISA PAGE ADMITTED OBAMA DOJ ORDERED STAND-DOWN ON CLINTON EMAIL PROSECUTION, GOP REP SAYS

Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page admitted under questioning from Texas Republican Rep. John Ratcliffe last summer that "the FBI was ordered by the Obama DOJ not to consider charging Hillary Clinton for gross negligence in the handling of classified information," the congressman alleged in a social media post late Tuesday, citing a newly unearthed transcript of Page's closed-door testimony. Page and since-fired FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok, who were romantically involved, exchanged numerous anti-Trump text messages in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, and Republicans have long accused the bureau of political bias. But Page's testimony was perhaps the most salient evidence yet that the Justice Department improperly interfered with the FBI's supposedly independent conclusions on Clinton's criminal culpability, Ratcliffe alleged.
